HYBER: an immersive environment for inner exploration, in VR and sound.

HYBER is a collaboration between Karen Frances Eng (oculardelusion) and sound artist Philip Cornett.

As individual artists, we each prize solitude, and often create artworks that act as wondrous spaces for our own contemplation. We decided for this collaboration to build a bridge between our inner worlds, creating HYBER – a multisensory, elemental intersection of our innermost lives. In building HYBER, we shared our most intimate solitude with each other. Now we invite you in, too.

HYBER comprises my VR-generated, explorable 3D environment merged with Philip Cornett’s detailed and atmospheric soundscapes.

It is possible to fully enter HYBER in VR using an Oculus VR headset. We intend for the visitor to explore HYBER by walking, teleporting or flying around its crannies and grottos, and/or by manipulating its scale, while simultaneously listening to the 44-minute sound piece. Turn on the audio visualizer (available for tethered headsets only) to experience your surroundings pulse in rhythm to the unfolding sound.

To learn how to experience or install HYBER fully as a VR-and-sound experience, please contact us.
