I'm a multidisciplinary artist exploring how meaning accretes through interactions among geographies, culture, nature, imagination, and technology. A builder in multiuser online worlds since the mid-1990s, I've worked with perception-shifting emerging technologies for three decades, from early text-based virtual worlds to town-scale mixed-reality public art, live-animated collaborative projection, and works made in dialogue with AI.
Currently, via an evolving framework called the Department of Ontological Cartography (DoOC), I develop playful protocols for noticing, naming, and mapping extraordinary realities layered within the apparently ordinary. While my practice prioritizes curiosity, attention, and process over medium, tools include movement, live-drawn animation, large-scale projection, VR and metaverse architecture, neural networks, sound, blockchain, and traditional media such as film, photography, and print. I am founder of Digital Rescue Lab, dedicated to preserving early cryptoart and the infrastructure it depends on. ACE supported.

I’m known for communicating complex concepts with clarity and precision, while conveying the passion, imagination, and humanity that drive scientists, artists, and visionaries to create.
Over the past three decades, I’ve profiled hundreds of innovators – from particle physicists and vaccine researchers to countercultural figures, immersive installation artists, tech pioneers, leaders in environmental sustainability, and ancestral knowledge keepers. My work balances intellectual rigor with perceptive depth, making complexity feel alive, resonant, and deeply understood.

:: strategist & systems builder
As an evolution of my art and writing practices, I’m often called upon to work on projects that are complex, emergent, or difficult to define. Individuals and organizations request my help finding patterns and relationships, asking useful questions, identifying what is missing, and developing structures that allow an idea or project to take form.
In my strategy and systems work, I’ve facilitated fact-finding and sense-making sessions; designed archival and information systems for artists, writers, photographers, and arts organizations; built databases and workflows to turn sprawling bodies of material into legible systems; developed frameworks and toolkits that enable others to carry work forward; and helped organizations clarify their purpose, language, and public presence. What I build depends on what the work needs.
Recently, I founded Digital Rescue Lab to convene artists, technologists, historians, and researchers together around a shared challenge: early blockchain art and the infrastructure it depends on is disappearing. DRL exists to articulate the challenges, set standards, coordinate efforts, offer resources, and educate — turning an urgent but scattered problem into a structured, ongoing effort.
